Beef Kabob Flavored with Liyye

Liyye is a frozen lamb tail fat, also known as lamb fatback, is typically made by processing and storing the fat from the tail of a lamb. It is a lengthy process, but the complex flavor is worth it! Liyye adds a burst of mouthwatering lamb flavor and vibrant color with zero fat to many recipes like beef kabob, Kefta, Mahashi, Dawali, Fatayer, and Shawarma.

In top of a distinct flavor and richness to dishes, Liyye can provide several health benefits when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. Lamb tail fat is a rich source of essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. It contains fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin K, which are important for various bodily functions including vision, immune health, and blood clotting. Lamb tail fat contains small amounts of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids are essential for muscle growth, repair, and overall body maintenance.

Beef Kabob

Beef Kabob Ingredients:

Ziyad Liyye seasoning spices

We are going to use Ziyad brand Liyye spices that will elevate the taste:

  • 1 kg beef, minced

  • 2 tablespoons Liyye spice mix (or adjust to taste)

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsely, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Salt and pepper as desired

Directions to mix and grill the beef kabob:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the minced beef, Liyye spice mix, and all other ingredients. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mixture marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  3. Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.

  4. Take the wooden or metal skewers and thread the marinated beef mixture onto them, shaping it into long, cylindrical kababs. Make sure to evenly distribute the meat mixture along the skewers.

  5. Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the kababs are cooked through and browned on the outside.

  6. Once the kababs are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.

Enjoy your delicious beef kababs seasoned with Liyye spices served with pita bread, rice or fresh salad. Tahini sauce is our choice when it comes to dipping!
